My passion is teaching. Ever since I started school I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Teaching runs in my family, my dad was an elementary school principal and two of my daughter-in-laws are teachers. I have a B.A. and an M.Ed in elementary education. For those who know me, you know that Math is my favorite subject. I like to make Math exciting and view it as a giant puzzle just waiting to be solved. I believe that everyone can do well at Math and that there is more than one way to solve a problem. Seeing students get excited about Science is great. I think that Social Studies is important in showing us how we fit into the rest of the world. Helping students to think globally is a goal of mine. I love to read as reading opens our minds to so many different things. Although I prefer mysteries, I also enjoy historical fiction. When I was in fifth grade, my favorite book was "The Secret Garden". We have a dog, Nike Swoosh Dellay, who goes everywhere with us. He can often be seen roaming the halls of St. Joseph School. Being a humongous Patriots fan, I have spent a good portion of the summer at Patriots Camp. I have signed football cards and pictures with Steve Grogan, Mosi Tatupu, Matt Barr, and Drew Bledsoe (your parents may recognize these names!). Vince Wilfork was my favorite player until he left for another team! Soccer, football and college basketball are my favorite sports. I enjoy attending the St. Joseph School games as it is nice to see students outside of the classroom in a different environment. It gives me an entirely new perspective! My favorite game is cribbage and I think it's a great game for students to learn...just ask! Our country has so much to offer and I have been to all of the 48 contiguous states and hope to get to Hawaii and Alaska. My family loves going to Maine and spending time there. Rhode Island is the best place to live because of the seasons with Fall being my favorite. I love a good blizzard and the beach days of the summer. I am thrilled to be the 4th and 5th grade teacher (math, science, social studies). I look forward to a great school year!
